Frequently asked questions about obtaining your Michigan Concealed Pistol License
Q: What does CPL stand for?

A: Concealed Pistol License.
Q: What do I need to bring with me for the classroom portion?

A: A valid Michigan driver’s license or state ID.
Q: How much is the CPL course?

A: CPL CLASS: $100
RANGE PACK: $40 due at the time of class – Includes Firearm Rental, Range Time & Ammo (Eye and ear protection are provided)

Q: Are there any other associated costs?

A: Yes, $115 to the State of Michigan which includes fingerprinting.
A: Depending on the county that you reside in, the fingerprinting may be done at the Sheriff’s office which again is included in the $115.00 fee.

Q: I cannot make the class I signed up for, can I change the class date?

A: You can reschedule for $30 which we can waive at our discretion. Please contact us to change your date. Call 586-250-1969.
Q: What time do classes begin?

A: Depends on the Schedule. Please arrive 10 minutes early for your class.
Q: How long are classes? Will we get out early?

A: Classes are 8 hours minimum. You will rarely get out early.
Q: How old do you have to be to take the CPL Class?

A: At least 20 years old. To receive a CPL from the State of Michigan you have to be 21 years old. If you are under 21 you have to have your own gun, the gun range requires you to be 21 to rent guns.
Q: I don't have a gun. Can I rent one?

A: Yes. You can rent one from us or at the range.
Q: Can I bring my own gun?

A: No, we require you to use the training pistol we provide for the range portion, which is covered when you purchase the required range package for $40 at the start of class.
Q: What do I receive at the end of the class?

A: After successful completion of the class you will receive a “Certificate of Completion”. You will take this certificate along with $115 to your County Clerk’s office. It must be the Clerk of the county you reside in.
Q: How long does it take to get my CPL License?

A: It depends on the county and the current demand. Generally 3-6 weeks.
